TIO MIA (Member-Initiated Activity) Guidelines

1. MIA can only be initiated by a TIO member.

2. A member who wants to initiate the event shall get endorsement by at least one (1) active BOD of TIO. At least one (1) of the endorsing TIO BOD member should be an active part (e.g. co-organizer) of the MIA project team.

3. Once the MIA is endorsed by at least (1) TIO BOD, the proposal must be submitted to the Secretary General of TIO BOD for approval. Depending on the scale and the nature of the project, the Secretary General will decide if the project needs to be evaluated by the Executive Directors of TIO, or the BOD of TIO.

4. Once approved, the initiating member will get possible permission and assistance from TIO for the event in the following area:
a. The event will be allowed to be post on TIO web site and other promotion channels bearing the TIO name;
b. TIO e-mail/newsletter;
c. Promotion by the BOD members;
d. Liaison & connection with other organizations, companies, agencies, etc.

4. Once the approval of the MIA is received from the Secretary General of TIO, the project shall proceed. The participating BOD shall report at the BOD meeting after the event.

Restrictions:

The following conditions shall apply to each MIA projects (unless otherwise approved by the TIO BOD):

- TIO will not be financially or legally responsible for the project;
- The event shall not contradict the vision, mission, beliefs, and values of the TIO organization;
- The event shall not be an event organized by another organization;
- The event shall not be in conflict or competition with other TIO activities;
- The event shall not be business-driven in nature (i.e. a financial planner doing a RRSP seminar for potential clients);
- The event shall not be profit-driven in nature
